Lazy Sunday

Our weekend days are usually filled with tons of activities and running around like crazy however today we had nothing planned, groceries were already done and Ben was heading to the race track so the kids and I, and my nephew Zachary got to spend a quiet day at home. It was kind of nice to just hang out and play.

We spent the morning chilling out around the house, had some lunch then down for a nap. Amazingly all 5 children all slept 2 whole hours! While they slept I filled up the kiddie pool for them to splash around in. They had fun splashing each other, swimming and sliding into the pool. I planned on bathing them before bed but suddenly had an idea to cut out some time in our nightly routine and bathe them in the pool then rinse them off with some clean water. They thought I was a little crazy but it worked!

When we came in Cameron was asking "What's that Momma?" and pointing on top of the fridge and I said "Play Doh" to which Cameron said "OH!" like he didn't already know! So I asked if he wanted to play and of course he said "OK" that kid never says yes. So we played with it and cut it into all sorts of animal shapes which was so fun and Brady said "There zoo on the table!" So smart!

Just for fun I weighed them before putting their pajamas on and Ben helped me measure them. I am sure it is far from accurate, especially on the height but I just wanted an idea of where they are at!

Matthew- 26 lbs 4 oz 33.25"
Brady- 31 lbs 12 oz 35.5"
Aubrey- 23 lbs 2 oz 32"
Cameron- 28 lbs 4 oz 33.25"

We had such a fun day hanging out and I enjoyed having a down day with them!

Santa's Village Take 2!

When we went to Santa's Village on Father's Day we went late in the afternoon and were issued free passes for an additional day of our choice anytime during the summer season. It really is a fantastic value for those who live close because it is like getting 2 days for the price of one and the kids were so excited to go back to "Santa Billage" this morning.

There are quite a few rides they are able to do and of course they had a blast playing in Ho Ho H2O again. They love the water! The lines were fairly short early on so we got a few rides done then went for some pizza before checking out the reindeer, getting rings made and heading to the water park. We grabbed a quick snack before we headed home and they were fast asleep before we could even leave the parking lot.

Ring around the rosies

This is the kids favorite song to act out right now. They love to do it in the water, in the house and sometimes even in the grocery store! They just crack me up!

The Ickey's and the Oh's

I have been working with the kids on saying their first and last name together and they have gotten pretty good at it. The day care kids sing "Aubrey, Aubrey, Aubrey Oh" in true Justin Bieber fashion so often that Matthew actually thinks that is her last name!

The other day Matthew was being a little devil and I said "Matthew Lucas!" and my three back ups chimed in saying that as well. Matthew gave me his best puppy dog face and said "I Matt Ickey!" Of course I laughed at him and that just irritated him further.

I then started quizzing him on everyone's names and he informed me that they were "Cam-mum Ickey", "Baaady Ickey" and "Aubee Oh". I tried convincing him that his sister actually had the same last name as him and his brothers but there is no convincing the stubborn little red head!

I love you...

My favorite thing about bedtime is hearing them all say "I love you mommy" and "I love you daddy" when we get ready to leave the room. Unfortunately, after those sweet little words at least one of them calls us back in for kisses, covers, etc. Learning the stall tactic already! How can you stay mad when you go back in to check on the an hour later and they look like little angels!

23 months!

One month until birthday #2. Can someone just stop time now??? I am not ready for these babies to be two. Well, we are ready...the party is planned, the invites are out, the wish list is done, the birthday shirts are in...I am just not emotionally ready to completely let go of the idea of having one year olds.

I am so proud of all the accomplishments they have made this past month. Their speech has become so clear, they have been speaking in sentences, they are using their imaginations to tell stories and be funny. I was so worried about Cameron and this month he has made leaps and bounds in this department. I am so proud of him for working hard and struggling his way through.

We have been practicing using big kid cups at the dinner table a couple days a week and when they decide to keep their forks and spoons out of them they are doing pretty good. Matthew has mastered the technique and hardly spills a single drop.

Nearly every morning the kids watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Special Agent Oso, aka Oso Special. When the characters as questions or play matching games Brady always answers them and most of the time he is correct!

Aubrey is such a little mother hen! She loves to play with babies and take care of them like she is their mommy. I am glad she likes to be a little girlie girl.

We have been working on colors lately and they are all doing well identifying at least one color. Brady most of the time can pick out blue and green, Cameron picks out blue, Matthew picks out red and Aubrey pics out purple.

It is amazing how big they have grown and how differently each of their personalities have developed them into their own person. They each have their strengths and their weaknesses. They each have little traits I love and little traits that drive me nuts but I love all four of them soooooo much!

Quaddler playdate

My mom and I took the quads on a little trip down to Danielle and Art MacLeod's house to have a play date with the MacLeod quads and the Nadeau quads. Twelve children under the age of two and we all left there still sane...AMAZING!

This morning as I was getting the kids ready I kept telling them that we were going to go play with their friends so when we got to the MacLeod's house Matthew started yelling "Yay, my friends! Yay Mommy!" That kid is too cute!

We had a great day playing with Cooper, Max, Jack, MacKenzie, Matthew, Harrison, Henry and Jackson. They played, had a little lunch, some more play and the moms got to visit a little bit in between as well. The kids got along fantastic and made me very jealous that the other two quad families live only 15 minutes apart. I would love to make the playdate a weekly thing but we live 2.5 hours away.

We said good bye to our friends and some kisses and hugs were exchanged then we headed home. They were excited to tell daddy all about their friends and Matthew tried really hard to remember everyone's name when he showed pictures to Ben. We hope to have another playdate soon!
