Productive day...

Thanks to Tonya I have officially finished both of my baby registries. We went to Walmart today and completed that one, boy for someone so little they need a lot of stuff!

Let me just say I hope that you all have a friend like her in your life, she has been amazing! She has been there for me through years of fertility treatments, a month of bed rest, this pregnancy, and most recently helping me through Ben's diagnosis and begining of treatments. She has 2 kids, 2 jobs, goes to school and still is there night or day, no questions asked. I am very fortunate to have many good friends in my life but I really don't know where I would be without her. Thanks Tonya!

This evening I have been working on bedding for the babies. I couldn't find any that I loved that would work for both genders so I decided to make them all. I know what some of you are thinking, I am CRAZY! It gives me something to keep busy doing as we are home relaxing.

Ben is having a good day, still worn down but Ryan came and got him out for awhile today and he was glad to be back doing something other than sitting around the house. I am sure that sitting around here doesn't help keep his spirits high and I am sure he will sleep well tonight!

Here's an opinion question for all my readers...
Tonya and I were talking about Godparents today and in my opinion the true reason for choosing Godparents is because they have the same values as you as far as raising the child therefore that would be the type of couple we would choose. Now having four coming is it too much to ask one couple to be the Godparents of them all? Is it better to choose 4 couples but ask one of them to be the gaurdians of them should anything happen? What do you all think?

Preliminary Results are in!!!!

3 boys and a girl!!! The u/s tech was very confident in her findings. We will have 100% confirmation at the anatomy scan in 2 weeks but this piece of good news was much needed this week!

The appointments went great and all looks good. The babies are getting so big! The ride home was torture! Having a sealed envelope in my purse for the whole ride almost killed me, sitting in traffic going 6 mph for a couple hours didn't help any.

Ben is quite tired after a long day of moving around with no naps. He waited up to read the results but he is comfortably asleep now and hopefully will stay that way. He had a great night last night so hopefully that will continue.

I will scan and post pics tomorrow!

We are home!!!

Ben had a good night and was fever free for over 36 hours so we were let go this afternoon. It is so good to be home. Right now we will be traveling weekly or biweekly to Dartmouth for his appointments and chemo and are hoping that he will be feeling more like himself soon. He already looks so much better than he did a week ago, I hope that is an indication that the treatment is going to work already.

In other news I get to see the babies tomorrow! I have been far to spoiled by seeing them weekly that when I have to go a week without seeing them I miss them. This week has been a big growth week for my belly too! I will post u/s pics and a belly shot for all those who requested them on Thursday.

5/25

Ben got his last med for his chemo cycle yesterday afternoon and he had some reaction to it. He pulled through ok and after some blood work they decided to do a platelet transfusion. He reacted fine to that and had a pretty uneventful night. Some night sweats, but not like the last couple nights. Today should be a quiet day, no testing other than blood, maybe a transfusion but he can go outside for a bit and he is going to do some walking around the pod and get a shower.

Tomorrow morning he has a PET scan at 7 am so with any luck by noon we should be headed home! We are both ready to be home in our own bed and able to get a good night's sleep.

rough night

They did 3 out of 4 of Ben's chemo drugs last night and the 4th one will be done this morning. He wasn't able to eat anything afterwords and ended up with the chills for some time then night sweats kept him up for a good part of the night. They gave him something different to sleep this around 4 this morning and he has been out ever since. Hopefully he will not have a reaction to today's drug and will be able to have a fairly relaxing day.

Update 5/23

We were given the final results today and it is Hodgkin Lymphoma in stage IV. He begins chemo tonight and will do it every other week for the next 6 months. He has a 60% chance of being cured and then there is a chance that he will treated but not cured. So now we work on recovery and getting him back to his old self.

Update 5/22

We got the preliminary results from the lymph node biospy and it has been confirmed that it is lymphomia. We will know early tomorrow afternoon which type it is and they are planning his first treatment for Sunday or Monday at this point then he can be released as early as 24 hours after the first treatment. We have to be back here Tuesday morning for a PET scan then it will be lots of rest and fluid for him.

We want to thank all our family and friends for all the support and caring. We appreciate it!

Update 5/21

Ben tolerated his lymph node removal today very well and he is eating and doing ok. We got the preliminary results from his bone marrow biopsy and found that was ok. The result of his CT scan showed spots on his liver, lungs and spleen. The lymph nodes need to be biospied but we should get the preliminary results tomorrow. The surgeon said they looked abnormal and they are just trying to determine what type of lymphoma it is now so we can start treatment ASAP.

Update on Ben

Ben finally went to the drs yesterday and they sent us to the hospital for additional testing and he spent the night in ICU then this morning we were sent to Dartmouth. He had a bone marrow biopsy done today as well as a CT scan. We should have those results by Friday.

Tomorrow he will have a biopsy of his lymph nodes too. We are hoping to have those results Friday too. I will keep everyone updated as we know more.

Little people...Lot of stuff!

Yesterday Tonya, Lauryn and I went to Babies R Us to work on my baby registry and I was amazed at how much stuff I really will need for all of these guys! It was hard not to pick out gender specific items for everything so I picked a blend and when we know for sure what they are we will have to go in and modify.

It was so hard not to buy a ton of clothes because there were so many I just loved but my luck is I will have 4 of one gender and I will have all sorts of clothes that can't be worn.

14 week u/s

Was pretty uneventful. No change in the cervix which is fabulous news! All the babies are measuring 14 days ahead of the last visit so they are right on still and look huge in comparison to 2 weeks ago My OB appointment was uneventful as well, they are sending me to the nutritionist to figure out how to get some more calories in because I am only up 5 lbs now and they would like to see much more at this point. In high order multiples the more you gain in the begining usually indicates that you will be able to carry longer. Not sure why but my OB said that and several books I have read now are also saying that.

I get a break next week then we are scheduled for u/s every Wednesday afternoon through 7/15. Anyone feel like going on a road trip let me know and you can get a peek at the babies!

Here are some pics to check out!

One week down...one to go!

This is the first time in 7 weeks that we haven't had a peek at the babies. As funny as it sounds, I miss seeing them already! I wonder how much each of them have grown and seeing how active they are being. I am counting down the days until my appointment and then it will be a weekly thing once again. Hopefully we will get some pictures to share but if not then seeing them will be enough!

Is it possible?

I know it is still early because according to the books you don't feel movement until 15 weeks but I swear for the last 3 nights when I lay down on my back real still I can feel one on them move. If it is that it is probably Baby B because he is always moving around, doing flips, etc. Can they be diagnosed in utero for ADHD? LOL!

We found fabric for the babies bedding so I am going to start on that this weekend, I am going for wishful thinking and going to make 2 girl sets and 2 boy sets. If there ends up only being one of one sex or none of one sex then I will put those sets on ebay and make some more. Either way I will have 2 sets done at least.

We are so anxious to find out what these little ones are! Usually you find out by 20 weeks and have 20 more to plan but they are looking at us delivering between 28-32 weeks so that doesn't give us a whole lot of time! I get weekly u/s begining next Thursday so I plan on asking weekly if they can tell what they are. We have been talking about names but are waiting until we know what they are before naming them.

Can someone send me some energy???

Everyone kept telling me after the first trimester my energy would return, well if anything I have less! The past two nights I have been in bed by 6:30 because there is no possible way I can stay awake any longer. I guess I can't complain too much though because I have had no morning sickness and from everything I have heard and read multiples intensify your symptoms. My advice to any of those trying to get pregnant, start prenatals like 6 months early...my RE said that can make a huge difference on the degree of morning sickness. Appearantly he is right because I have been taking them since 7/07.

Here we go again...

My original blog is lost somewhere in cyberspace so I figured I would start a new one so everyone could follow our journey. Here's a little backstory...

Ben and I were married in 1999 with the hopes of starting a family right away. Unfortunately that was not what was in store for us! After 9+ years, too many fertility treatments and several heartbreaking miscarraiges we are expecting quads!

When we first found out there were 4 babies we were in shock! Who wouldn't be? Each week we expected to see fewer babies on the screen but each week they were there, thriving. As the weeks passed it became clear that all 4 babies were going to make it through and we were given the tough decision of reducing the number of babies to have a better chance to make it full term or attempt to carry all 4 and pray that we make it to at least 28 weeks before delivery day comes. 32 weeks is our goal, at that point the babies would have no greater chance of having long term disabilities than a full term singleton would.

We chose to have an N/T scan done and found all the babies appear to be perfect! That sealed deal, we could not choose to terminate any of these healthy babies. To me this meant we were meant to have 4 babies. This definately is not the way we planned on having our family but these are the cards we have been dealt and now we are going to embrace it!

We've been FLOCKED!

Nine years ago this summer there was so much uncertainty, would Ben make it through his treatments?  Would I be able to carry all four babi...
