Cameron had an appointment at DHMC on Tuesday and we had our family BBQ in MA on Wednesday so we figured we might as well make a mini-vacation out of it and bring them to Boston for a little tour of their birthplace.
Cameron's appointment went great! His hearing was all within the normal range even though one of his tubes was blocked. They aren't going to worry about the blockage unless he starts having ear infections and then they will have to work on it. The other tube is still in and clear so maybe when he gets checked again in January they will both be out. While we were there we took the foursome down to the oncology department to see some of the women who followed our story while Ben was receiving treatments there. They were delighted to see them and couldn't believe how much they have grown since our last visit a year ago.
We hopped in the van with our packed lunch and headed out. We got to the Brigham and missed Dr Acker by just a few minutes so we didn't get to chat with him but the receptionists remembered me and were thrilled to meet the quads. Next stop was the NICU where none of our nurses were on duty but the coordinator met us in the hall and remembered us so well...even who the kids primaries were! The kids were pretty amazed to see pictures of them hanging on the wall in the NICU waiting area.
We took a little walk up to Brigham Circle to take a ride on the T. The kids have a book about Boston and in it it talks about the T so they have been curious about it. Cameron was thrilled that it was the Green Line because as he likes to remind us often it is his favorite color. We didn't go anywhere but they were thrilled to take a ride before we headed to the hotel.
At the hotel we hung out with Memere and Bumpa...swimming in the pool and eating some Domino's pizza. I wish we had Domino's up here because the kids polished off an entire pizza plus some parmesan bites before retiring for bed. Matthew was fairly adament that he was going to sleep in his own bed in his own home but finally decided that he would sleep on his Buzz Lightyear bed for just one night.
The next day we went to our BBQ, which I really wish I had gotten some more pictures of, and got to visit with some of my family. The kids had a ball in the pool! Aubrey, the princess that she is, floated around the pool in a little boat float while the boys swam like fish. It was such a long day that they were all asleep before we pulled away from my Aunt and Uncle's road. They were all pretty well behaved for all the time that they spent in the car.
