Many mothers wish for a day at the spa, extravagant gifts or the day alone time for Mother's Day but to me the meaning of Mother's Day is celebrating that you are a mother and the only way to do that is to spend the day having fun with your children! Don't get me wrong, I think that moms especially deserve to be pampered but I prefer for it to be on another day of the year.
Ben and the quaddlers took me on a trip to Boston for Mother's Day this year and it was so much fun! We left home on Saturday and went to Manchester to the mall with hopes of playing in the play center in the mall but I guess a lot of other people had the same thought on a rainy day so we ended up going to the pet store instead and the babies watched the dogs running and playing in the window for quite some time. They love dogs so I guess one of these days I am going to have to let them get a pet.
We walked around the mall and waited for the storm to pass before continuing on to the hotel to check in. The front desk thought they were doing us a favor by giving us a first floor handicapped room and I thought it was fabulous as well until Matthew discovered that he could open the door because there was no bolt at the top and found it amusing to wander into the hall countless times.
We met Uncle Dave and Aunt Susan at Jordan's furniture to see the water and light show and have dinner at Fuddrucker's. The babies loved the water show after they got over the fear of it but wanted to be held so I unfortunately got no pictures of it. We walked around the furniture store after dinner then went into the "bellybean" store and got them a scoop of Jelly Bellies before heading back to the hotel.
Sunday morning Ben surprised me by remembering to not only get Mother's Day cards but also bring them with us on the trip! All the babies signed my card and we headed off to take a walk by the water before hitting up the Aquarium. We all enjoyed it so much! The babies could have watched the penguins forever I think.
After the Aquarium we went to Faneuil Hall to look around and get some lunch before heading home. The babies were definitely sick of the car by the time we stopped in Tilton to let them out to stretch their legs and play at the play ground in the outlet mall. They fought us about getting back in but were soon napping and we were on our way home.
I think the worst part of every trip is the unpacking and loads of laundry that follow but knowing how much we all enjoyed our trip makes it all worthwhile!
