Trip to the Greenhouse

It is time to plant the garden so we took our first family trip to the greenhouse to get vegetables to plant.  The kids were a little disappointed when we got there because the greenhouse was not a GREEN house.  They take things very literally so the fact that it wasn't green was a big deal.  They got over it fairly quickly as we moved inside and they thought it was very cool.

Checking it out!

Happy Memorial Day!

It is a great day to remember those who have served our country and who are responsible for our freedom.  In honor of that we went to two parades that we were able to go to locally and the kids really loved seeing the fire trucks, ambulances and hearing the gun shots at the monuments.

Ready for parade #1!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of their absolute favorite books.  All four of them can finish the sentance on each page, Brady can read along with me nearly verbatim and I can read the story with my eyes closed.  I saw a little activity on Pinterest that I pinned awhile ago that we finally got around to making.  They love to craft and it was an easy craft to do!

Sleepy Time Chart

The kids have decided that the cool bedtime game is to play let's stall bedtime...sometimes it is a kiss, a drink, a hug, a snuggle, a million trips to the potty.  It drives me crazy that our bedtime routine sometimes is stretching out an hour past bedtime and sometimes more and nap hasn't been much better.  A friend of mine suggested making a chart and giving them the chance to earn a special prize.

The first week I made the chart I sat them down and explained the way it worked and if they got 10 smiles out of 14, one for nap and one for bedtime each day, then they would be able to go out for ice cream with me.  The first nap Cameron got an X within minutes of being laid down and he thought it was funny.  Brady was telling him how X was naughty!  Then a few minutes later Matthew called me up and he usually never gives a hard time laying down so I went up and he said "Mommy, I want an X too!"  Brady, Aubrey and I all tried explaining that X was bad but he was insistant so he got one too.

They made it with a couple days to spare getting all their smiles so off to the ice cream place we went and they were so proud!

They were also very excited that they were able to get ice cream in their colors!  Yellow for Matthew, Blue for Brady, Pink for Aubrey and Green for Cameron!

Playground time!

Our yard is currently out of use due to the projects we have going on right now.  Ben planted the grass over the past weekend so hopefully within the next week or so we will be able to start playing on it.  In the meantime we have been keeping the kids busy at the ball field and park during baseball/softball games and last night was a night of relaxation so we went to a different playground for them to run and play.  I have to say this age is great for going to the playground...they can do most of it themselves and they are not easily bored by it.  It is kind of nice to sit back and watch them play!
